Research Area
Preventive and Environmental Health explores how modifiable environmental influences—including chemical, physical, biological, social, psychological and economic factors—shape human health and well-being across the life course. By understanding the interactions between people and their natural, built and social environments, the research area aims to prevent disease, reduce health inequalities and promote healthier communities.
Positioned at the intersection of environment, society and health, the program advances multidisciplinary research, education and innovation to address current and future public health challenges. Through national and international collaborations, it translates scientific knowledge into policies, interventions and solutions that improve population health.
Most groups working in this research area of MUHCRI are organized in the The Instituto de Saúde Ambiental (ISAMB) . Further information can be found at isamb.medicina.ulisboa.pt/en/who-we-are
